BizBuild is a company actively developing the skills of young South Africans so that they are able to take advantage of employment as well as entrepreneurial opportunities. With youth unemployment in South Africa at 75% (OVER 9 MILLION YOUTH) there is a dire and urgent need for innovative interventions in the youth development space.

 

The directors of BizBuild are passionate about the future of this country and being in excess of 15 years of experience in training and development to the business. Ian Brodie, the Managing Director of BizBuild has a background in finance and entrepreneurship and has been involved in entrepreneurial training and development for the past 10 years – while Verity Dunbar, the Operations Director, brings over 15 years of experience in operations management and training and development. Together Ian and Verity have ensured that BizBuild (Pty) Ltd grows and continues to be the leader in youth entrepreneurial development and training.

 

The company is focused on providing entrepreneurial skills to young people in rural and township areas and providing them with opportunities to change their lives and those of their communities. BizBuild is an innovative company that provides cutting edge entrepreneurial training and development solutions for young people. During training students can “Learn While You Earn”, allowing young people to earn a living while putting into practice the skills learnt during the BizBuild Youth Entrepreneurship Programme.

 

The company seeks to open training venues for young people throughout in townships and rural areas. Each venue will seat at least 30-40 students per day, depending on the size of the venue, with social distancing. The students will be provided with post-training opportunities that will enable them to earn a decent living and effectively become business owners while they learn. The programme is geared to ensure that these young people are provided with on-going Business Support , which is greatly lacking in townships and rural areas.

There is currently a youth unemployment rate in South Africa of over 75% with a large number of young people neither in employment, education or training, as well as an 80% failure rate of entrepreneurs – hence BizBuild’s Youth Entrepreneurship Programme. The programme seeks to recruit the so-called NEETS (not in employment, education or training) and develop their entrepreneurial skills while providing them with support to ensure that their businesses have a greater chance of success.

 

Changing the approach and environment in which training and development is offered is of vital importance in order to ensure that South Africa will meet the skills demands to compete on the global market. Many entrepreneurs that have been on Entrepreneurial Training do not understand the basic skills of running a business such as planning, operations of a business, how to enter the marketplace and financial management. We concentrate on teaching the basic skills first then to continue the training process with our Business Support Hubs that will be opened in and around our training venues.

BizBuild is a dynamic training and development consultancy that is poised to capture a substantial market share in one of the most important service industries, namely, Education and Training.  We will do this by delivering a personalised and market-related consultancy and training service to our youth clients.

 

The Company BizBuild (Pty) Ltd was founded by IAN BRODIE & VERITY DUNBAR in 2015, while based in Gauteng, the company is able to deliver services on a national basis. The service delivery will be concentrated on delivering training programmes in the fields of YOUTH ENTREPRENEURAIL DEVELOPMENT as we see this as the most critical area of need if we are to guarantee a prosperous future for South Africa.

To ensure that we deliver content that has local relevance, we will recruit and train local facilitators to deliver our ground-breaking content. BizBuild also interacts with church and community leaders and businesses around the townships where the company operates to obtain buy-in and support as well as to offer local businesses an opportunity to invest in the development of local youth – with all the societal benefits that go with it.

 

Quality in both our services and products will be one of our key components for success.  It is for this reason that the company has made the decision to concentrate on specialised products that can be directly linked to the need of the Youth and Entrepreneurship.  We want to be known as specialists and not generalists within our operational fields.  Developing township based entrepreneurial opportunities that require low investment, the Programme will benefit the township communities through successful entrepreneurs who will create jobs and wealth. Communities with high entrepreneurial activity provide better opportunities for upward mobility within their populations.

The learning strategy includes the learning theories, tests, assignments and practical activities .

Learners will be exposed to individual learning and self-assessments ensuring personal attention and greater efficiency of learning.  The practical and integrated activities will be done through product evaluation of the portfolio of evidence of each learner as well as on site assessment.

 

Evaluation by the use of tests and assessments during the programme will be integrated into the programme.  Regular reports are provided to the learners and other stakeholders including funders.

 

The Youth Entrepreneurial Program will run with up to 40 learners per class (also considering social distancing) .

 

Students will receive certificates of attendance for the modules they have attended, and a certificate of completion at the end of the program.

 

Continuous coaching will be available to the students after completion of the training.

BizBuild as a company intends to target unemployed and disadvantage youth especially those in townships and rural areas between the ages of 18 and 28. (if possible up to 35 depending on the funding received) The high unemployment rate among this segment of the population is dire and casts serious doubts on the future of this country. This is why we have identified this target population as one that is currently ignored and faces the most risk of economic exclusion.
